JWALA RAJMA RECIPE



Ingredients

  • 1 cup Jwala Rajma (dark red kidney beans)
  • 2 medium onions (finely chopped)
  • 2 ripe tomatoes (pureed)
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1½ tsp red chilli powder
  • 1½ tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste,Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

How to Make

  1. Soak the Jwala Rajma overnight or for at least 8 hours.
  2. Boil Rajma: Pressure cook soaked beans with salt and 3 cups water for 5–6 whistles, until soft.
  3. Prepare Masala: Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, then onions. Sauté till golden brown.
  4. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute.
  5. Add tomato puree and cook till oil separates.
  6. Add turmeric, red chilli, coriander, and garam masala. Mix well.
  7. Add boiled Jwala Rajma with stock water. Simmer on low flame for 15–20 minutes.
  8. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with steamed rice or chapati.
